#100 Days of Home Ed…Day 51

RADICAL UNSCHOOLING continues…

Hoping and praying for another beautiful day like the last three. Not only did the new lawnmower arrive, but a pool for PanKwake as well. And I have a whole utility room full of seedlings that need planting. Plus I just order her caterpillars…

From the very beginning when PanKwake attended her wonderful community nursery, the life sciences have been a huge part of her life.

Back then our home was a living classroom for not just an oh-so-cute PanKwake but her whole nursery school.

And when I took her out of school, even though we lived in a tiny two-bed flat in London we still managed to have a few pots outside our window…even though people kept putting out cigarette butts in them and stealing her thermometer and rain gauge.

We have grown our own lettuce…strawberries…and attempted tomatoes with very little luck.

We have had numerous pets…beginning with our hamster Nibbles. She got that name because she bit PanKwake on the way home from the shop. We have had fish…and a cat. At one point the count was 1 hamster, 1 cat and 2 gold fish…in that teeny tiny flat.

So obviously now that we are settled and have the space, I am looking forward to expanding upon this solid foundation and teaching PanKwake by doing…that is how she prefers to learn.

So we can barely wait for our latest butterflies in the making to arrive. She is old hand at those…having grown and released about twenty of them. But this year, I hope to populate our whole garden with them….

Radical unschooling allows us to celebrate life…not just our own but the Circle of Life as well…sorry, I cannot resist…
