My Little Human Is Growing Up…

Last night for the second night in a row…PanKwake allowed me to sleep.

That may not seem like a big deal considering she is almost twelve now. But given that I am usually up between three times and ALL night for water, Pat & Jen, food, etc. it is huge to me.

What makes this so special is the fact that I have a cold right now. I have spoken to PanKwake about how poorly I feel.

It is another mark of her increasing ability to put others first.

What is best about it though is that it is a genuine balancing of the scales with her…and not an enforced politeness.

Step with care and great tact. Remember that life’s a great balancing act. And will you succeed? Yes, you will indeed (98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed). Kid, you’ll move mountains! Dr Seuss, Oh, The Places You’ll Go!

That means as she grows older she will be better able to balance her needs and those of others. She even said as much at Mommy Monday when we were talking about our #HomeCrazzyHome rules. She told everyone that #Fairness was one. Whose needs were most pressing at that time.

To me that is so much better and more emotionally healthy than making someone do something.

Well, I am off now…as soon as she wakes up I hope to get more done on PinkTopia…for her and with her.

That is how it should be with all our little humans…neurodivergent or neurotypical.

Oh, but don’t worry. I realize it won’t last…and it should NOT. Because often PanKwake’s needs are greater than mine. Balancing those spoons, folks. #SpoonTheory
