I began this blog over seven years ago when I first deregistered @PanKwake from school. I called it Islington Home School Mom then. But since we no longer live in Islington and we have moved beyond ‘homeschool’ to a self-directed learning lifestyle for our whole @HomeCrazzyHome, I thought I better change the name as well as the purpose of this blog.
So much has happened in the past few years. In the days/weeks ahead, I will be migrating some old ‘home ed’ posts from my @HomeCrazzyHome site over here. And obviously updating the About Us section. But until I do, I just wanted to say in the words of Randy Quaid (NOT an endorsement of the man)…
We have made such progress on this Self-Directed Learning journey. I believe that de-registering @PanKwake was the best thing I ever did for her. Despite the challenges of autism, Pathological Demand Avoidance, dyslexia, and having me as a Mom, she has become this totally kick-a$$ young woman that I am proud to call my friend.
That is what motivated me to revitalize this blog. I believe (know) from the bottom of my heart and depths of my soul if your neurodivergent little human and you are struggling with school, sometimes the best thing you can do is…
Get out of a burning building!
And once you are out, you are usually so traumatized that you find yourself stumbling around, looking for someone in charge, someone to tell you what to do, just a friendly face to help. Having been there and done that, we’d like to be that friendly hand pointing you to resources and the right direction.
