100 Days of #RadiCoolUnschooling – Day 11

It was Valentine’s Day. The day for love and lovers.

We celebrated by Cookie getting up at 9 a.m. (after being up until 2 a.m. with work) to watch two #LittleHumans while I went with the au pair to the doctors and pharmacy/chemist.

Then said #LittleHumans had a massive double meltdown. And he was by my side going back and forth between the two to check on both.

By the time that settled down it was off to work for him…and shopping for me. I could not get a taxi home even after waiting over almost an hour for one that I was told would take thirty minutes. So I walked home in the cold rain…and he met me at the back door to help me with the bags.

I had offered him steak but he said no…so I made a simple chicken cheese casserole. He ate two helpings…then off to work again.

When he came to bed I was already asleep but we snuggled…too tired for more.

If that does not sound like the perfect Valentine’s to you…then you have no idea about autism, PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance), or #RadiCoolUnschooling.

You see…it is easy to romantic when things are going well…but to be loving when the world is chaos takes a much bigger man.

What some of you might not know was that I used to write trashy romance novels…50 Shades with a plot and characters. Thing is that even as a writer I could have never written a more wonderful hero than the man I fall asleep and wake up next to every day for almost two years now.

What does any of that have to do with #RadiCoolUnschooling? Because it is not just me that this man has taken into his heart and life. It is PanKwake too. And he is as active in her education as I am. Heck, we have even roped the poor man into the home ed community.

Words don’t even come close…

I used to think that no one could cheer louder or fight harder for PanKwake than me…then I met Cookie Monster.

As I told him…every day is Valentine’s at #HomeCrazzyHome. I love you, Cookie Monster. Even more on bad days than good. You are our miracle.
